On March 24, 2011 AZIA AVTO car assembly plant has received official authorization to produce four new KIA models. The first Sportage and Soul crossovers, Optima and Cadenza sedans have been issued by the plant' assembly line.
In May of last year the fourth-largest world producer joined to the Kazakhstan assembly plant's partners (General Motors, Skoda Auto, Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ) - Korean concern KIA Motors Corp. Fruits of new partnership did not take long. Since Cerato sedan, Mohave SUV and Sorento crossover have been put into production in Ust-Kamenogorsk, KIA became one of the four best-selling foreign brands in Kazakhstan.
Production of four new models of Korean concern is going to be a new round of success, ensured the head of AZIA AVTO, Yerzhan Mandiyev:
- In its relations with partners the plant essentially relies on selection of the latest developments. Today we are pleased to offer Kazakhstan customers with KIA cars of last generationsrecently presented at the world's auto show in New York, Geneva and Detroit. They are KIA Soul compact crossover, KIA Sportage parquet SUV, KIA Optima business sedan sedan and a luxurious KIA Cadenza. Given the growing production volume, we are opening a fourth assembly line reserved for seven models of this brand.
As noted the president of Regional Headquarters of Eastern Europe & CIS, Kia Motors Corp., Mr. Yang Ho Son, the Korean partner of JSC AZIA AVTO continues to strengthen its position on the world markets:
- Despite the difficult times in the world automotive industry KIA Motors increased sales by 26,5% by the end of 2010. More than two million KIA cars, sold in 172 countries, have confirmed our position as the world's fourth-largest automaker. Start of production of four new model allow us to expect further increase in the brand popularity also in Kazakhstan, - said Mr. Yang Ho Son.
According to the representatives of KIA Motors, a jerk made by the brand during recent years, is a merit of international team of designers and engineers:
- Today, new models are developed in a design studio in Frankfurt and California, in the engineering center in Japan, Germany and the USA. One of the most interesting examples of our international team work was KIA Soul, created as a splice of crossover, minivan and compact hatchback. It received dozens of prestigious awards, including those in design. Model focuses on the younger generation, on unconventionally thinking people. Therefore Soul is stuffed with electronic gadgets and allows owner to change its exterior and interior. At the same time it is one of the safest models in B-class – as a result of EuroNCAP crash-tests Soul received all 5 stars.
KIA Sportage, 2011, today having been approved for production in Kazakhstan, is the third generation of popular parquet SUV. However, in fact we are talking about a completely new car: quality interior materials, a rich set of basic options, record-in-class roominess, and the same five stars in European crash tests. But the main unquestionable advantage of this model, of course, is its dynamic appearance designed by KIA Motors chief designer Peter Schreyer. It was he who created silhouettes of such bestsellers as Audi TT, Audi A6 and Volkswagen New Beetle.
Thanks to the talent of P. Schreier, business-class sedans presented in a KIA portfolio reached new level, said Mr. Mandiyev:
- Today, AZIA AVTO will start production of two sedans of 2011-2012 model year: mid-size KIA Optima and a luxurious KIA Cadenza. Despite it appeared short time ago, Optima has already won three international design awards and Cadenza is likely to become both KIA flagship and a leaders in E-class.
Both vehicles received the highest rating according to the crash tests conducted by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the maximum estimate of the Insurance Institute for US Highway Safety.
As told the president of JSC AZIA AVTO Yerzhan Mandiyev, due to the growing market share of the plant and due to the start of production of new KIA Chevrolet and Skoda models, sales of your products in 2011 will exceed last year sales 2,2 times. By the end of 2010, revenues from the sales of own production has grown over last year more than twice, reaching 7 336.7 million tenge. Net profit of JSC AZIA AVTO amounted to 361.4 million tenge in 2010.
